I bought this a few weeks ago. It’s ok, i really just wanted to to use the chroma keyer effect and picture in picture effect, the latter being a newblueFX add on. I was messing around with the chroma keyer on 2 videos i downloaded from youtube, one being .flv the other being the HD .mp4 formats. It looks fine in the preview and when i am rendering but the actual file is just a black screen with no sound for the right amount of time. I have tried rendering it several different ways and each has the same result. it has been 2.5 to 3 weeks since i emailed sony about the issue and no reply. Also you can’t call them unless you buy an additional ‘support plan’ which is 30 bucks i think. RIDICULOUS! I installed the newbluefx from the cd that came with movie studio and a few of them caused movie studio to crash. So i contacted both sony and newbluefx. sony still hasnt responded, newbluefx responded and linked me a site to download the updated effects. However the registration number did not save from the first time i installed and i thought i had thrown away the little paper with the key on it. newbluefx would not help me in anyway getting the key claiming that sony gives out all the keys from the software packaged with their products.
Word to the wise, unless you are 100% sure this will work and you won’t need ANY support from Sony I wouldn’t recommend buying it. I am somewhat happy with my purchase only because I ended up finding my registration key later. Still can’t render some videos correctly.
Sidenote, I use a Creative Vado HD for many of my youtube videos, this program spends almost an hour ‘building peaks’ before I can use a 2 minute clip I try to import. Hopefully Sony fixes this!
Just getting into this product. Lots of bells and whistles. No problem downloading, no crashes as of yet. Working on a few small projects and keeping my fingers crossed.
This is an excellent product you not only able to edit the video but you can do the audio as well.

Some people have given this product low rating and I don’t know why? I gave it 5 stars because, one, it’s Sony, two, it’s easy to install, three, great and easy to follow tutorials, I mean what else do people want, we’ve come a long way since the days of stone age, so therefore, slow down and follow directions step by step and you’ll get it, and by the way it’s a Sony product and they get it, have fun!
I have been sitting with this Sony product now for over a week and I have tried every which way to install it but it will not install. I am using Windows XP and an HP 3500+ computer. I have never before had problems installing software even though I am not a computer fundi but this version of Vegas is not only a riddle but it is unusable. I have written about 6 emails to Sony and have received 3 replies after about 3 or 4 days and each reply gave the same standard answer. It referred me to an answered question in the frequently asked question section on the Sony site about not being able to install the software. I had already seen that answer and it did not work. I tried it again and again but still no installation. Even while trying to install you have a choice on creating short cuts on your desktop for the software…guess what?…there were no short cuts created. I had switched off all my Norton stuff etc and it did not help. I am very disappointed as this is my first time in the movie area of software. I will call Amazon and see if there is something they can do for me as to my getting something that actually works rather than this hopeless product.
