I ordered this software not knowing if it would really work as advertised. But I will say, it was just what I was looking for. The better overall condition of your LP’s the better results you will have. Some of my LP’s have been played many times but the software was able to remove 80 to 90 percent of the pops and clicks. I rated the product with 4 stars but I would have to rate the customer service at Roxio 1 star. This was my first contact with Roxio customer service and I’m not impressed. I don’t know if this is typical, but I waited a week for a response to an email. Another question I had was never answered. The case was just closed after a few days.

Software installed fine but does not work. Hijacks the sound card. Cannot monitor the recording properly or set recording level. Unable to playback recording or set up proper format. Totally useless. Don’t buy this product.

I got this as a gift, and when I read the reviews I was all set for a day wresting with a new gizmo. Plugged it in, followed the directions (with pictures), put in a tape, set the autolevel, and hit record. 45 minutes later, I tagged it, putting in names and details. I had to clean up about 4 spots where the recording had gone silent and made the software think there was a break, and exported. Overall, about 5 minutes work, and I had a cassette on my ipod.

Where were the problems and struggling to get it to work from the reviews? I haven’t tried all the bells and whistles, like the online service that figures out what the songs and artist are named. That’s OK – I know who the artist is, and it’s not a big deal to type them in.

Overall, it’s a 60 buck widget that puts my music collection on my computer with a few easy clicks, already in MP3 format so I don’t have to convert it like some products. The sound quality transfers perfectly, and that’s really all I need. I haven’t tried tackling the LP’s yet, but what I’ve seen of the noise reduction works pretty well.

One note – live albums where the sound is continuous, be prepared to split the songs manually, as it won’t recognize applause as non-music. And, your source needs a pre-amp (i.e., headphone jack).

After reading all of the reviews, I bought this product, knowing from the negative reviews it might be somewhat complicated. When I first tried the product, I saw how some users might complain. This is a very good product and comes with an entire suite of software. I stumbled until I learned all the hows and whys. In the end, there are very few limits to what can be accomplished using this product.

First of all, the USB interface hijacked my system, and made itself the default sound device for everything – I was able to fix this for the most part by myself through the Windows Control Panel. However, it also disabled my Cubase program’s ability to hear it’s own Presonus Firewire interface, until I removed the USB device from the System/device section of Windows Control Panel. But that’s not even the main problem, I never got past the main screen, and into the Vinyl/Tape converter, Sound Editor, or Tag editor. All I would get is the Windows message about “an unexpected problem”. Roxio only offers support via web ticket, unless you want to pay $1.98 per minute, and it takes 24-48 to get a response each time. They had me give them screen shots of the error codes, my system screen, and the main view of the program, and text files of the error code reports. After all of that specific information, they offered such specific advice as, defragment your hard drive, and update your video drivers. The end advice they gave me was that if I still had problems I should return it! Which is why I am sending it back, and waiting to see if Amazon gives me full, partial, or no refund, because it’s open software. I tried using the Roxio User Forum, right on the user site, but the best advice I got from the local “expert” was that Roxio products sometimes require a “clean install” which involves removing all of their other products, downloading and running a utility from Microsoft, and MANUALLY editing the Windows registry! yeah, right.

I been using PCs since my first 8086, DOS 3.5 computer in 1989, and this is the first time I have absolutely failed to get a program to run!

What part of all of that sounds “easy”?

I don’t know which product might be better, but buy anything else but this!
