I’ve owned Magix Music Maker 7, 2003, and 10 Deluxe and decided to give 16 a try. Good news is I didn’t pay full price (only about $35 which is what this software is really worth).

The interface tries to mimic a Macintosh (especially the loading circle), which wouldn’t be too bad but its get really annoying when trying to use other windows in the background.

My largest issue was that even on a reasonably new Dell XPS 720 (Intel Core2 Extreme Processor) with 4GB of memory w/Sound Blaster X-Fi on (Windows XP), the program was extremely laggy to the point where it couldn’t even play a song and not stutter when trying to zoom in and out or reposition on the fly. I’ve tried everything from changing the ASIO driver to directx or wave mapper but didn’t make much of a difference. I’ve even gone so far as to reinstalling the OS with a new hard drive but had the same problem.

Maybe others will have a better experience, but for me the program was absolutely useless and I ended up downgrading back to 10.

Magix Music Maker 16 works above and beyond what I was expecting. I am very happy with what I’ve been able to do with it, especially considering what I paid for it. It beats the program it replaced on my computer by leaps and bounds, and it was close to the same price.

Magix Music Maker 16 is great,I run it on windows 7-x64 and love the way it works!!, you need to have a system with dual core & high memory for this program to work with out lagging,

(if you computer is old its time to upgrade for the changing times)

The music you put together you can save as mp3′s or another formate, you can upload to youtube, ect..

you can burn your own CD’s with head banging music or Soft mood music what ever you like, Go wild with the sounds, I Love this Program and the things that can be done with it.

I give this more then 5 stars!!

It looks like I owe Magix an apology I decided to try It again and was able to get It to work on the hard disk drive that has the damaged Windows XP I clicked on another button and did Not have to register but I still had to type In the password but even to old Windows had Us to do that but I was frustrated when It asked for birth date then said a Invalid Email address was Interred I though It was like some of these other programs that give the runaround quite frankly this security freaks should be dragged out Into the street and shot. I have Not figured out much about It but seems to work good at what It was doing, I bought It to to Record My Music where the Microsoft recorder will only record one minute and then have to reset It each time for the highest resolution, I have read where Magix Is already default at the highest resolution, I also wanted to be able to mix In tracts together.

If I could give this minus 5 stars I would. I have 2 hard disk drives on My Computer both with Windows XP and hopefully soon will be running Linux Operating System probably Linux Mint Isadora or Fedora 13. One of the Windows XP has a fake spy ware program virus but works well providing stay off Internet the other Windows XP Is damaged but can use on Internet. My main concern was, Is Windows XP damaged where the program would Not work, My attempt was to Install on the Non damaged Windows XP. Any company that has any Intelligence at all should know to Include a patch to fix the part of the Microsoft Operating System that the program will be using. The Music Maker 16 also Included Incl. PC Check & Tuning 2010 full version worth $39.99 —-NOT!—- Someone that claimed to be a successful business Man In a letter told Me years ago, Do Not worry about Your losses If You are making a profit but many Computer program companies do Not understand that, they want to make sure No One ever steals from them. May I make a suggestion? Quit selling your programs at a Insane high price but of course If Anyone knew what this program Is They would Not steal It anyway. Now how many times have I seen this before and been screaming for years there should be a law against It, The way I see It If You buy a program then You should be able to use It but what do these companies do they first make You type In a mile long password then make You register on the Internet and up date Your program on the Internet but If You do Not have high speed Internet or Internet at all then You can Not use the program but some companies go so far after You register on line then they send You back a password usually a password that does Not work. So I went on line with the good working Windows XP filled out all the Information which also Includes Your birthday, like If that Is any of their business then pushed the register button and It said I Interned a Invalid Email address which was valid and before I could get all the Information typed back In, as I said My Windows XP works good off line but on line only a few minutes before that fake spy ware messes up the Computer. I will Never buy a Magix product again they are Nothing but a bunch of Security Freaks that steal from People and them that write a good review about this product are probably a paid shills.

I have Magix Music Studio 12 and have made literally dozens of songs using its VIP format. I get Music Maker 16 and none of my VIP files can be used to work with it, so I have to make new versions of the songs using its new MMM or whatever format they use for song creation. The MIDI import function puts all of the MIDI tracks on one MMM track instead of giving you the option of having each MIDI track on its own MMM line; that ability is on Music Studio 12 Deluxe. I use 12 to separate the MIDI tracks into their own lines so that I can use the Vita feature to make each track more livelier; you can’t do that with Music Maker 16.

Not on Amazon yet is Music Maker 16 Premium, which I would give three stars if it didn’t have the same problem as the MM 16 basic. In Premium, there are even more Vita instruments, a new Beatbox, a new version of Revolta. The Atmos is lame with a mere four background sounds; why can’t they upgrade it to have a wider selection like a nightclub bar, sports stadium crowd, and more.

Some features are improved, but what’s needed is a patch to make Music Maker 16 work with the legacy VIP files, some of which use the synth tracks no longer seen on MM16 such as copper, silver, the original Beatbox, and whatever else I haven’t discovered that’s missing.

Also missing from each MMM line are direct volume and pan controls so you can control the sound without needing to dig deep into the menus to control them.

All in all, it falls short of being recommended to other people. Could’ve been better if it worked with its own legacy VIP file formats so we could easily improve on them and allowed us to split the imported MIDI tracks into their own separate MMM tracks.
