With continued use, I tend to be growing more and more fond of Office Mac. My first impression was that of confusion, but only because I was new to the modern Mac interface. Once I got used to the environment, the intuitive feel of Microsoft Office prevailed, in some cases even more comfortably than the transition to the ribbons used in some of the Windows versions.
I’ve discovered that the same powerful features which I’ve come to rely on are readily available in the Mac versions of Word, Excel and Power Point, present in an easy to utilize format that’s an absolute pleasure to use.
There are still plenty of features left for me to try out in this exceptionally versatile and well done edition of Microsoft Office. I’m very happy with it so far and I consider it to be an indispensible software tool.
Item was delivered very quickly and was in perfect condition. Transaction was quick and easy! Highly recommend!
Terrible software. if you have a Mac with Snow Leopard it does not work well. very slow. if you have a Mac. I recommed iwork. iwork simply is terrific for my mac. now coming with Office 2010 but, nope not for mac. next iwork? yeah! I’ll buy,
First off this will be overkill for most home users, so look for the home and student editon or just buy iWork.
If you are a business that is a Microsoft shop this is a must for your Mac users. The ability to share document via SharePoint and Connect to the Exchange Server makes the business edition worth the price tag.
If your Windows users are using complex Excel Spreadsheets then you have another reason to buy Office over iWork because Numbers cannot compare.
The installation process is timke consuming but many large applications suffer the same longer installation time, so I am docking any stars for the install.
Many people like to fault Microsoft for the upates and patches that come out. More software vendors would have this issue if they were large and are targeted by hackers Yes it is a pain to be updating so often and I have lowered my rating by one star.
All in all Microsoft has a good product here but like mentioned earlier if you are not in the business environment I would suggest buying iwork or the home/student edition if you need Excel
I’ve been working with this edition of Office for Mac 2008 on one Mac, the digital media edition on another, and the plain ‘ole Office for Mac 2008 on my laptop. Of the three, this edition is the last one I would choose again. The most useful thing I’ve found for my home business was the selection of templates for business use. They’re more up-to-date, and are truly handy to have and have been put to use often. And they’re just plain fun.
The feature that sets this apart is the Microsoft Office Exchange Server support. If you have a small business or home-based business, this may be an unnecessary feature. Some with small businesses may see the word “business” in the software title and think it’s meant for all businesses. However, if you are in an Exchange Server environment, this is the way to go on your Macs.
Otherwise, it does have all the typical Office suite applications and they do work well on the Mac. The user interface changed with the 2008 editions but I’ve grown to really like the new look.
My suggestion to those outside a corporate or Exchange Server environment, buy the non-business edition and download free Office templates as needed online.
