Logic Express is a great step up from Garage Band.
So far all is good. No problems.
The controls are not the same as Garageband. I did make some good music on Garageband, but this has so many more (tons………) of options. You can get a way thicker sound. You can make your mix louder than everyone else if you are that much of a tool. I play guitar. I have a midi drum kit and midi keyboard and really like the software drums. I am upgrading to Logic Studio because I think the extra software instruments alone justify the price, plus I like it so much I might as well have the full offering of extras.
I know this is a stripped down version of Logic Studio/Pro. However, it already does a lot of things. I saw people complaining about user interface being too difficult to use, comparing to GarageBand, but after I read pdf version of detailed user manual. It wasn’t so hard to learn. GarageBand is more easy to learn only because it has a limited feature set. The only problem I faced is the interface is so dense. Whoever tries to buy this product needs to check whether the computer screen/resolution is large enough to clearly show the UI. (Seriously, letters are too small
)
I love all things Apple. But this software is lame. It’s nothing more than Garageband with a complicated, confusing interface. Skip it.
The ability to write quickly in GarageBand and then import into Logic Express to polish things up is awesome. Amazon’s price makes this a steal!
