I purchased this program determined to improve my photo editing skills; previously had PSE 6.0. Purchase was made in May and it is now late August. I have spent a minimum of 20 hours trying various ‘fixits’ to get rid of an error message: “Licensing for this product has stopped.” When I receive that message must restart the computer. I have had ‘live chats’ online, live phone conversations with agents I can barely understand and much advice on different levels of repair that are ‘guaranteed’ to solve the problem. It persists. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT UNLESS YOU ARE A SAVVY COMPUTER USER. You will be on your own to make it work. Adobe sends a list of about 7 solutions; try one, try them all, then repeat. That’s their advice. I now find the internet is full of solutions to this exact problem. Why can’t Adobe just fix it?

I am new both to Photoshop Elements and the Mac. The only photo editing experience I had before Photoshop Elements was using free software called Gimp to occasionally manipulate photos for banner images, etc. However I recently upgraded to Photoshop elements, and what a difference! It is so much more intuitive, and does everything I can imagine I would ever need to do. Plus, due to its popularity, there is a tutorial online for anything you can think of doing.

If you are like me and just starting out it can be a little daunting. You will need a good book or tutorial. However once you get into it, you realize there is a consistency among the tools that makes navigating from one to another not so difficult.

The only thing I was not crazy about is that the ‘photo organization’ part of the software is completely separate, in a program called ‘Adobe Bridge’. Although the two programs talk to each other (you can open Bridge from inside elements and vice versa), it would be nice if all the functionality was included in the PSE application, as I understand it works in the Windows version.

All in all, I am very happy with the product and excited about all the new things I will be able to do.

This review has nothing to do with the pros or cons of the software itself. Rather it concerns the ability to load and use it on a brand new 27″ iMac. I have tried to load it on the iMac for several days and kept getting the Error 150:30, Licensing Problem which kept it from opening. After going to the Adobe Forums, I find this is a prevalent problem and has been for several years. They offered several “solutions”, none of which work. I then called Adobe, and after some time got referred by the tech to the same solutions that the Forum offered. I asked the Tech why Adobe would keep selling a program with known problems and no simple remedy for over two years without just fixing the software. We were disconnected, so I didn’t learn the answer. So, be forewarned, this Adobe product may be great, but if it won’t even load on a brand new iMac, you might want to try another route.

I want to add that the only reason I’m even giving a review is because Amazon keep’s sending me emails asking me to give a review because I purchased this.

This was a gift for my uncle who was taking a Photoshop class. I cannot say anything else about the item. I also learned that I can’t even use this version of Elements because it’s for Intel based Macs. I’m still PowerPC G4.

I scanned a bunch of family photos from the 1960′s and 70′s. The specs, dirt, scratches and other imperfections on these old prints looked terrible when shown on a large computer screen. With the healing tool in Adobe Photoshop Elements 8 fixing all these specks and scratches is easy!
